<sub>The sun was shinning, the birds singing, and a lazy breeze caressed the trees into a lazy sway. It was a perfect day, too perfect to let it go to waste. Everyone had either gone to visit friends on the mainland, or to go swimming in the rivers. But with the wind so calm, Kiara knew exatly where she wanted to go.

"It's rare for the west coast to have such calm tides." Kiara murmered, gazing out at the beautiful ocean before them. Salty waves kissed the shore as squeals and laughter disturbed the peace.
"You're full of good ideas." Thorn smiled as he too admired the beauty of their island. "And it gives Lacey a good chance to get in touch with her pirate roots."
" I don't think I want my daughter becoming a pirate.." Kiara chuckled. Lacey raced past them, alittle clumsy on her long legs. Elliot was older by several months and followed soon after, bucking and striking with his athletic build. Finally, Gunner snaked his neck after his younger siblings, laughing and pretending to be a shark.
"Sharks can't gallop on land!" Lacey shreaked as she was chased across the dunes.
"Oh my god he's a LAND SHARK!" Elliot yelled dramatically, diving down a steep tune and tumbling in the sand. Gunner roared and launched high in the air, landing inches from his little brother.
"A flying land shark." Gunner grinned wildly. "And I'm going to eat you both for my breakfast!!!"

Thorn and Kiara both laughed as they watched their children run a muck. It was a heart warming sight. Gunner was finally accepting his family again and he and Thorn had become good friends, getting ever closer to the son-father bond Gunner secretly craved.
It was the birth of little Lacey who had brought them so close. Her sweet nature couldn't be denied and soon even hard-as-nails Gunner was rolling over for the tiny princess.

"It's good Lacey has found a father closer to home." The chestnut mare leaned against the tall, dark stud and smiled. "Lyo will always be her daddy, but he's so far away... it's comforting to know you'll be there for her if she ever needs that protection."
"Protection? You've got the mother instincts of a tigress, Kiara. You hardly need me." Thorn nibbled her mane and the pair let go of their 'just friends' charade. He nuzzled her diamond star and she sighed in return, leaning into his strong neck. "But Elliot think's of you as a mother of sorts too , you know."

Kiara glanced at his eyes to see a flicker of guilt.

"Ever since Kyra left, he's been craving that loving touch only a mum can give."
"I'll always look after Elliot, he's a good boy. Him and Lacey will always be brother and sister, regardless of their blood."
"Right."

The day wore on and eventually the sun began to set, and a chill wind stopped the fun. The children and Gunner trotted back to the glen, eager to find shelter in the thickery of trees. Kiara and Thorn followed closely behind. Thorn's keen ears and nose always keeping track of the foals when they disapeared from sight.

"I think everyone is getting suspitious.." Thorn spoke up, and met with those beautiful blue eyes he knew so well. "That we're together."
".. Are we, together?" Kiara asked. "Officially?"
"I... don't know. I don't want to hurt Elliot.." Thorn looked away, staring into the darkness at his son. "He still thinks Kyra might come back, no matter what I say."
"He's only young. He just... doesn't understand how love works." Kiara kissed his cheek and looked up to the stars. "Lets not say anything yet. No until we're ready. All of us."
"I love you." Thorn smiled and she smiled back, melting against him.
"I know. I love you too."
"But I never stopped. Ever since we were yearlings. Ever since I betrayed you, I've always wanted to fix things.. I loved Kyra, of course. But I've always cared about you."
"I know.. It's been painfully obvious." She laughed, and he joined in. "You're so loyal.. like a dog."
"A dog?!"
"A really big dog." She grinned and he threw his rump into her, causing her to stumbled and kick up her heels at him playfully. They laughed and started to chase one another, and soon they caught up to the foals.
"Mummy!!" Lacey squealed and laughed. Thorn trotted up behind her like a giant and pushed her rump with his nose, boosting her stride.
"Come on princess, you can catch those boys!" Thorn encouraged and soon she was carrying her own elongated stride. He slowed to a walk with Kiara once more as the foals burst into the glen and were greeted by their friends. " It almost makes me want another foal.."
"Don't even think about it.." Kiara snorted and flicked her tail into his face with a laugh, and he chuckled.

"Have a nice DATE you two?" Dean cooed, waggling his eyebrows.
"Dean, they took the foals with them." Jane sighed and rolled her eyes. "As if they did anything like that.."
"Never stopped me." Demyx grinned and gave Hamish a lick, making the brown stallion chuckle. "It's sex education."
"Demyx!" Hamish huffed and rolled his eyes. "You too are so cute together!"
"That is why we never let you baby sit, Demyx." Kiara sighed, shaking her head with a smirk.</sub>
